“Leave No Man Behind.”
Black Hawk Down happens to be one of my favorite movies. People are usually floored by this because A, I’m a girl, and B, most people find it depressing. I don’t. I see it as horrific, yet inspiring. These guys were put in an insane position under the worst circumstances and most made it out alive – because they trusted and fought for each other [in the end 18 lost their lives]. I had read the book a few times before the movie came out, so it was a little confusing for me, because the movie combines certain characters [wrong word for it, since this is a true story, but you know what I mean] into one – like Ewan McGregor’s character, Grimes. He’s the amalgamation of 2 actual guys. And some of the details were changed, like where the first Black Hawk crashed. Even still, the movie is very well done and true to the book, but is fictionalized a bit so it flows better in the short time they have to tell the story…
